Friends of the Midshipmen 2017/18 Campaign

A Unit Support Initiative of the UT NROTC Alumni Foundation

The purpose of the Friends of the Midshipmen first annual campaign is to support the leadership training experiences of the 65 midshipmen expected to be enrolled in the UT NROTC program in the 2017-18 academic year beginning June 1, 2017 and ending May 31, 2018.  The Midshipmen will continue to engage in fundraising events, but the annual uncertainty of fundraising availability makes planning meaningful training evolutions difficult and even cost prohibitive at times.

The largest projected leadership training expenses are as follows:
                        Run to Dallas                          $5,250
                        Tulane Drill Meet                   $4,000
                        Dining Out                              $3,000
                        Mess Night                             $2,000
                        Confidence Courses               $2,000
         Total Expenses                                  $16,250

If 65 alumni are willing to pledge $250 each the total revenue will be $16,250 which is exactly enough to pay the largest projected expenses for these leadership training experiences that are not covered by Navy appropriations or state university funds.

Please make your pledge to support one midshipman for one academic year by making a contribution of $250.  If your company offers matching gifts to non-profit organizations please alert them prior to making your contribution. Make your check payable to "UT NROTC Alumni Foundation" and in the memo field of your check please write "Friends of the Midshipmen". Please make your tax-deductible donations before June 1, 2017 to the following address:

Campaign Update:

2016-11-28: Twenty-two persons have made their pledges so far, amounting to $5,500, which gets us one third of the way. Decide what tax year in which you would rather make your donation and act accordingly. Many thanks to those early birds who have already stepped up to the plate.
